Épines dorsales (Total) : 7; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 11; Épines anales: 1; Rayons mous anaux: 11. A small species; eyes appear to face slightly upward; jaw length only slightly sexually dimorphic; predorsal midline fully scaled, 13 to 19.
Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal; Cross section: oval.
Found in sand or gravel-bottom creeks flowing through rainforest, usually within about 20 km from the sea (Ref. 2847). Appears limited to small streams close to the coast in fresh and brackish waters (Ref. 34009).
