Etymology: Chilodus: Greek, cheilos = lip + Greek, odous = teeth (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: M. (probably Monsieur) Zunêve is stated to have been a service agent, Eaux et Forêts (Waters and Forests), French Guiana. He provided the holotype, but we have been unable to find anything more about him. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
