Épines dorsales (Total) : 2; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 9; Épines anales: 4; Rayons mous anaux: 36 - 43. Large eyes, orbital diameter equal to or slightly longer than snout length. Gibbosity very pronounced.
Body shape (shape guide): short and / or deep.
Is a predator whose main food is not known. Appears to prefer an environment with fast current over rocky bottom which is typical of the rapids. Frequently found in the upstream areas of rivers (Ref. 12225).
