North America: Red (Mississippi River basin) and Calcasieu River (Gulf Slope) drainages to Brazos River drainage in southwestern Arkansas, southeastern Oklahoma, western Louisiana and eastern Texas, USA.

Adults inhabit sandy and rocky runs and pools of creeks and small to medium rivers, usually in shallow water (Ref. 5723). They feed on dipterans, ephemeropterans, tricopterans, coleopterans, and odonats (Ref. 79012). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
