Etymology: Trogloglanis: Greek, trogle = hole + Greek, glanis a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish (Ref. 45335); pattersoni: Troglo (Greek)=a hole or cave; glanis (Greek)=a kind of fish; pattersoni, named after Professor J.T. Patterson, of the University of Texas, who secured the specimen referred to by Eigenmann (1919) from San Antonio Texas (Ref. 79012).
Eponymy: Dr John Thomas ‘Pat’ Patterson (1878–1960) was an American embryologist and geneticist at the University of Texas, Austin, where he joined the faculty (1908), having been awarded his doctorate by the University of Chicago (1908). [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
