Found mainly in the upper reaches of rivers and diverticules of rapids where the current is very strong, the water is clear and shallow and the bottom consists of numerous rocky blocks under which it finds shelter. In this biotope where it can be very abundant, other species like Leporinus granti, L. despaxi, Astyanax meunieri, Bryconops caudomaculatus, Imparfinis minutus, Pimelodella cristata and Crenicichla multispinosa are also found (Ref. 35381).
主要發現於水流是非常強的急流的河與 diverticules 的上游了, 水是清澈的，而且淺灘與底部由很多的岩石塊石組成在它下面發現庇護所。 在這一個生存環境中在那裡它可能是非常豐富又其他的種例如格氏兔脂鯉〔Leporinus granti〕 ， L. despaxi ， Astyanax meunieri ， 尾斑瑙脂鯉〔Bryconops caudomaculatus〕 , 微羽油鯰〔Imparfinis minutus〕 ,小油鯰〔Pimelodella cristata〕 與 Crenicichla multispinosa 也被發現.(參考文獻 35381)
