Etymology: Hemiancistrus: Greek, hemi = the half + Greek, agkistron = hook (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Carl Theodor Waldemar Hammarlund (1884–1965) was a Swedish botanist and mycologist who taught at Lund University (1924–1932). He collected in Guadeloupe (1933) and in Peru and Bolivia (1934). He collected the holotype of this species. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
Taxonomic Remarks
Synonym of Hemiancistrus landoni Eigenmann, 1916 (Ref. 99824). Page to be removed. No redescription; 12S and 16S mitochondrial rRNA gene sequences used in a molecular phylogeny of Loricariidae by Montoya-Burgos et al. (1998: figs. 3,4,6; EMBL/GenBank Y08284, Y08332).
