Facultative air-breathing (Ref. 126274); Inhabits rivers and creeks of moderate velocity between 20 and 160 m elevation, living fixed to branches or stones where they scrape off algae and its attached microbiota. Feeds mainly on detritus and some aquatic invertebrates (Ref. 36880).
