This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: with a distinct notch between spinous and soft dorsal fins; caudal fin rounded; D VIII,12; length of dorsal-fin base 38.5%-41.1% SL. Colouration: body with a red stripe above body axis, reddish yellow on dorsum and caudal-fin base with a small deep red spot (Ref. 137547).
