Etymology: Serrasalmus: Latin, serran, serranus, saw and a fish of genus Serranus + Latin, salmo = salmon (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Manuel Ramirez was the second author’s son, who died young, and who since early childhood had accompanied the authors on their fishing expeditions. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
