A slender, cylindrical, straw-colored minnow distinguished by a broad depigmented supralateral stripe along side bordered ventrally by narrow, black midlateral stripe and dorsally by darkly pigmented dorsal scale margins; predorsal stripe wanting or obsolescent; and postdorsal stripe absent (Ref. 31523). No breeding colors (Ref. 31523). Breeding male pectoral fin with shagreen-like tubercle arrangement (Ref. 31523).
Adults inhabit clean, clear waters of flowing pools and runs (Ref. 31523). They are found over bottoms with fractured bedrock, cobble, and gravel mixed with clear sand (Ref. 31523). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
