Etymology: Gephyrocharax: Greek, gephyra = bridge + Greek, charax = a marine fish without identification (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Marta Petronella Dahl née Althén (d: 1905), who collected the holotype, was the wife of the author (Professor George Dahl). (See also Dahl) (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
