Etymology: Nettenchelys: Greek, netta = duck + Greek, enchelys, -yos = eel (Ref. 45335); dionisi: Named in honor of Gustavo Perez-Dionis in recognition of his contributions to the study of the Canary Island marine fauna.
Eponymy: Gustavo Adolfo Perez-Dionis is a malacologist from Tenerife, Canary Islands. He was honoured for his contributions to the study of the marine fauna of the Canary Islands where the holotype originated. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
