Chrosomus saylori resembles C. erythrogaster but differs from this species by having S-shaped gut (vs. double-looped) and black on underside of head in breeding males (Ref. 86798).
Adults inhabit rocky pools of headwaters and creeks, usually along undercut banks or around large rocks (Ref. 86798). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
