Etymology: Pseudancistrus: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, agkistron = hook (Ref. 45335); yekuana: Named for Ye-kuana, the indigenous peoples inhabiting the upper Rio Ventuari and other areas of southern Venezuela and northern Brazil.
