Differs from one specimen of Pseudancistrus genisetiger and the holotype of Pseudancistrus papariae by the presence of 18 continuous plates (vs. mid-dorsal row with 14 plates, then a break around the adipose fin and then 2 more plates at the posterior end of the caudal peduncle. Another specimen of Pseudancistrus papariae with complete mid-dorsal row, but plate rows not examined (Ref. 75198).
