Etymology: Euryochus: Derived from the Greek Eurys, meaning broad or large, and okkos, meaning eye, in allusion to the noticeable larger eye of this genus compared to other neoplecostomines; thysanos: Named from the Greek thysanos, fringe or tassel, in reference to the finely fringed margin of the lower lip. A noun in apposition.
