This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: body covered with fine dermal spinules, mixed with simple and bifurcate ones; pectoral lateral-line neuromasts 4; greyish buccal cavity; semi-transparent skin; relatively short tail, its length 1 is 31.8-34.8% SS, tail length 2 is 15.7-16.3% SL, tail length 3 is 15.0-18.6% SL (Ref. 99940).
