Etymology: Paratanakia: Name from Greek 'Para' from word 'parilis' meaning beside, near or by, and the genus name Tanakia, referring to the similarity to species of Tanakia 'himantegós'; noun in apposition.
Eponymy: Chen-Ju Ch’i was the Director of the Bureau of Education of Honan (now Henan) Province, China, and was thanked by the author for his ‘kind support’ of the author’s study of Kiangsu fishes. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
