Etymology: Trimma: Greek, trimma, -atos = something crushed (Ref. 45335); citrum: Name from Latin ‘citrum’ from the color of the fruit of the lemon tree (Citrus limon), a species of small evergreen tree in the flowering plant family Rutaceae, native to Asia; referring to the body colouration which is lemon-yellow overall.

This species is distinguished by the following characters: scaled predorsal midline; fifth pelvic-fin ray with one dichotomous branch point; pectoral-fin rays unbranched; bony interorbital 41% pupil width; more than a single posterodorsal row of cheek scales; papillae 6 in cheek row c. Colouration: caudal peduncle with a white saddle dorsally, head and body plain yellow overall when fresh except the white caudal spot; a fairly heavy concentration of melanophores on last one-fifth of
peduncle, but not enough to form a recognizable dark spot or blotch (Ref. 126105),
Cross section: oval.
Collected over limestone rock and rubble slope with scattered patches of sand and small holes, crevices, and caves, with some scattered scleractinian, gorgonian and soft corals; the water was clear, with low to moderate currents.Collected by rotenone & vacuum device (Ref. 126105).
