Etymology: Ophichthus: Greek, ophis = serpent + Greek, ichthys = fish (Ref. 45335); machidai: 'machidai', i.e., named in honor of Yoshihiko Machida, who guided Sachiko Ide through her thesis at BSKU (Ref. 90265).
