Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal) : 6; Anale zachte stralen: 4. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: posterior extremity of the adipose-fin base confluent with the upper procurrent caudal-fin rays; a combination of parallel striae and rounded plaques on the anterolateral surfaces on the lips; caudal-peduncle depth 9.9-12.0% (10.5% ± 0.01) SL; caudal-peduncle length 17.3-21.8% (19.7% ± 0.02) SL; eye diameter 6.7-9.0% (7.8% ± 0.01) HL; interorbital distance 31.8-37.6% (35.6% ± 0.02) HL; anal-fin base length 5.7-7.5% (6.5% ± 0.01) SL; body depth at anus 10.5-13.2% (12.3% ± 0.01) SL; dorsal to adipose distance 14.6-17.8% (16.4% ± 0.01) SL; tip of nasal barbels exceeding anterior edge of eye but not reaching posterior orbital margin (Ref. 137474).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated; Cross section: flattened.
This species is found in clear, fast flowing waters less than 50 cm deep, typically found in streams, at the confluence of streams, or around the banks of larger rivers. This habitat features a hard bottom substrate composed of rocks, gravel, and pebbles (Ref. 137474).
