Etymology: Cambeva: Probably derived from the Tupi-Guarani, is a popular name for trichomycterid fishes in southern and south-eastern Brazil (Ref. 119381); chrysornata: Name 'chrysornata' from the Greek word 'chryos' and Latin word 'ornata', meaning 'gold' and 'ornate', in allusion to the characteristic bright yellow marks on the flank of the new species.
