Etymology: Rhyacoglanis: From the Greek words 'rhyax' (torrent) and 'glanis' (catfish), indicating a catfish inhabiting running waters in reference to its habitat (Ref. 128485); beninei: Name 'beninei' in honor of Ricardo Cardoso Benine, Professor at Universidade Estadual Paulista 'Júlio de Mesquita Filho', in recognition of his dedication and remarkable contributions to the knowledge of Neotropical freshwater fishes.
