This species occurs on moderately steep to steep rocky slopes dominated by medium to very large boulders. Subadults are often collected in shallow, inshore areas among the rocks, whereas adults occupy deeper zones. Individuals are generally found offshore at depths between 3 to at least 8 meters. Their diet is mainly composed of snails, with insect larvae forming a secondary component (Ref. 137953).
