Etymology: Pyrrhulina: Greek, pyrrhos = red, with the colour of the fire (Ref. 45335); punctata: Name 'punctata' from the Latin word meaning 'spotted or dotted', in allusion to the series of dark blotches on the flanks and fins of the new species.
