This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: rostral barbels 13, well developed, arranged in two rows; 12-15 rudimentary barbels; lateral line accompanied by broad, dark, longitudinal band, margins weakly undulating or nearly straight, pale stripe between lateral line band and dark dorsal surfaces generally continuous straight; and fully expanded caudal-fin emarginate (Ref. 138729).
