Vértebra: 25. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: smooth, cycloid scales on top of head; predorsal scales rough, scales ctenoid; total number of developed gill rakers 23-27; 52-58 pored lateral-line scales; light greenish yellow to grayish or translucent dorsal and caudal fins; and soft dorsal fin completely covered by scales (Ref. 138809).
