Etymology: Potamotrygon:Greek, potamos = river + Greek, trygon = a sting ray (Ref. 45335); siponinmorok:Name 'siponinmorok' from the Akawaio (Indigenous community historically occupying coastal Guyana) phrase 'si ponin moro', meaning the 'fish that stings', with 'si' pronounced like 'chee' and the 'moro' like 'moor-okh' for English and Creole speakers.
