Etymology: Solenostomus: Greek, solen = tube + Greek, stoma = mouth (Ref. 45335); snuffleupagus: Name 'snuffleupagus' from the Sesame Street character Mr. Snuffleupagus, also known as ‘Snuffy’, in allusion to the species' distinctly shaggy, filamentous appearance and snout reminiscent of the character's covering and trunk. A noun in apposition.
