Épines dorsales (Total) : 13 - 16; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 8 - 11; Épines anales: 3; Rayons mous anaux: 6 - 7. Diagnosis: body depth 29.3-31.6% of standard length; interorbital space 17.6-19.0% of head length; 16 dorsal-fin spines; 28 or 29 lateral-line scales (Ref. 53405).
Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal.
Ovophilic, paternal mouthbrooder (Ref. 12468, 52307). Both parents can take care of the young after hatching (Ref. 12468), but pair-bonding seems relatively weak (Ref. 52307). Maximum TL recorded is 8.65 cm (Ref. 5657).
