Etymology: Clariallabes: Latin, clarias, -a, -um = shining + Greek, allabes, -etos = a fish of the Nile, a kind of lamprey (Ref. 45335).

Radios blandos dorsales (total) : 84; Radios blandos anales: 60. Diagnosis: eyes with free orbital rim; dorsal and anal fins long (69% and 55% SL, respectively) and partially fused to the caudal fin; skull short but broad, being almost as broad as long (skull width 90% skull length); external mandibular barbel of equal length as skull (Ref. 81644).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated.
Apart from the original description nothing is known about this species (Ref. 78218).
