Africa: lower reaches of Ivoloina River to at least as far south as Manambolo Creek which drains into the Lakendrano Mpangalana 10 km south of the town of Vatomandry, Madagascar (Ref. 76768). Following translocation to marshes near the village of Mahitsy (just outside of Antananarivo) in the 1950's, at present apparently also widely established in the Betsiboka basin (Ref. 76768). 非洲: 只有模式標本標本 (模式標本產地: 馬達加斯加的淡水). 不清楚地不同於 吉氏皮杜銀漢魚〔Bedotia geayi〕 。

Inhabits clear, well-shaded streams at altitudes up to 30 meters above sea level; prefers slow-flowing sections; observed in loose, size-graded associations up to several dozen of individuals; juveniles usually found in the shallows, adults frequent deeper waters (Ref. 76768).
