Distinguished by the following characteristics: first dorsal fin with VII spines; lack scales on the head and anterior section of body; have modified basicaudal scales on the caudal peduncle; have completely separate pelvic fins; light to dark brown body color with darker bars on sides (Ref. 92840).
Inhabits sandy areas with rock or algae cover (Ref. 92840).
