背的軟條 (總數) : 91 - 98; 臀鰭軟條: 43 - 58. M. bertini differs from all other species of the genus by the great distance between anal fin origin and anus (13-19 myomeres). It is further distinguished by the following combination of characters: head short, snout relatively long, skull length 3.6-4.9% TL, rostral fang with dorsal profile slightly convex forming an almost straight line with frontal part of skull, dorsal fin origin above myomere number 5-7, pectoral fin 5.3-10.5% TL and no lateral, subdermal spots of pigmentation (Ref. 34506).
Body shape (shape guide): eel-like.
M. bertini 有別於所有的其他種的本屬藉由大的臀鰭起源與肛門 (13-19 myomeres) 之間的距離. 它是進一步藉著下列的組合特徵區別: 頭部短, 吻相當長的,頭蓋骨長度 3.6-4.9% TL, 嘴的尖牙用背面輪廓些微中凸形成一幾乎直線具有頭蓋骨的前部份,在 myomere 上面的背鰭起點數 5-7 ,胸鰭 5.3-10.5% TL 與顏色的沒有側面又皮下斑點.(參考文獻 34506)
