背鰭 (合計) : 8; 臀鰭: 20 - 26. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: discontinuous perforation of lateral line scales; an unpigmented adipose fin; modified scales in the caudal fin absent; posterior elongation of opercular bones absent; distal border of the anal fin concave in males; number of scales forming the anal-fin sheath (5-12); number of branched anal-fin rays (20-26); body depth (27.6-31.9% SL); five or more cusps on the teeth in the inner series of premaxilla; longitudinal black stripe extending posteriorly on the middle caudal-fin rays; and conspicuous black blotch on the caudal-fin base absent (Ref. 138957).
