Distinguished by the following characteristics: separate pelvic fins (no ventral suctorial
disc), although a low membrane connects the bases of the innermost rays, and the uppermost
and lowermost scales on the base of the caudal fin have elongate ctenii (Ref. 86376)
Occurs offshore over coralline grounds (Ref. 4345).
