Adults are found in fresh and estuarine waters. Lacustrine, fluvial and anadromous forms exist (Ref. 593). Adults live up to 13 years (6 in dwarf form). They feed on zooplankton (mostly crustaceans), benthic animals (especially insect larvae and mussels, also algae) and insects from surface. (Ref. 59043).
